We've made a habit over the past few years to get out to the desert at least once each spring and autumn. Being so close to southeast Utah, it's easy to justify a couple-day trip with one or two nights out, and precious little time in the motor vehicle. A couple years ago, Sandhya and I spent a day riding along an old mining exploration road outside of Bluff, above the San Juan River. I thought the road probably went through to the river itself, but we didn't make it that day. This time, we were joined by friends Cody and Erica, with the idea that we'd check the far end of that road out if possible.
