We all knew it was coming... just not quite this soon!

POSTED BY VC CREW - This just happened on Thursday.  Salsa's Bucksaw - the world's first production full-suspension fatbike - got the carbon treatment.  Everyone who knows us knows we prefer steel or titanium, but as it turns out those are terrible materials for full-suspension bikes.  And as carbon technology gets better and better, it's beginning to make more sense than aluminum in many cases.  Although carbon is still more vulnerable to point impact than steel or ti, that's not the case when compared with high-end aluminum.  A point impact sufficient to fracture a well-made carbon frame will severely dent high-end aluminum, often leading to stress riser cracks.  So while we still enjoy a good TIG weld, carbon is a viable option - lower weight and generally stiffer, although more expensive!  All tech-talk aside, the new Bucksaw looks awfully pretty... even if we haven't seen the aluminum Bucksaw on the floor yet!  (They should, by the way, hit the floor in the next couple weeks!)

The Bucksaw Carbon comes stock with Whisky's new full-carbon tubeless fatbike rims, a RockShox Reverb dropper post, and SRAM 1x11.

If you find yourself drooling over the Bucksaw Carbon - available in the spring of '15 - let us know, because pre-orders for very limited numbers just opened...

That is an awfully sleek-lookin' bike for such a big rig...

Schmoooth.
